The heart of VISUAL Message Center
The extension of VISUAL Message Center's monitoring functionalities
from iSeries to Windows, UNIX, Linux, AIX and Sun Solaris-based services,
processes, and hardware, along with network components and databases,
has been achieved through the development of a new monitoring technology
called ThinkServer.
ThinkServer is comprised of one central monitoring engine
and a separate configuration layer.
The ThinkServer monitoring engine re-uses common logic
to manage a variety of agents, thus minimizing system resources usage.
This is why ThinkServer agents are called ThinAgents.
The standards-based configuration layer (supporting WMI,
SOAP, XML, etc.) automatically generates user interfaces, making the creation
of new monitors extremely quick and easy.
In the near future, ThinkServer will allow Tango/04 customers to develop
the specific ThinAgents they need to manage their IT infrastructure and
business processes. ThinAgents available in VISUAL Message Center are
pre-configured with Health conditions (success, minor, warning, critical),
whose parameters and thresholds are based on real-life installations of
our software at client sites.
The ThinkServer engine offers great scalability, allowing
hundreds of monitors to run simultaneously. This is very important for
infrastructures with large numbers of servers and network devices.
